About Us

The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama is the national conservatoire of Scotland, and the UK’s first conservatoire of Music, Drama and Dance. We offer specialist performance-based undergraduate and postgraduate training to students from all over the world, as well as access to the performing arts to people of all ages via weekly classes, short courses, CPD and training.

The guiding principle of RSAMD Musicworks is to take music participation to people who would otherwise not have access to it, not through the RSAMD imposing what it perceives the community needs but asking local communities at grassroots level the question - " How can we help?" or by responding to the request "Can the RSAMD help us?"

Musicworks currently operates twelve music centres throughout Scotland providing long term music education to over 800 children across a wide geographical spread of venues and communities. Musicworks also works alongside Local Authorities, schools and community organisations at a grass roots level, offering its expertise on short term projects and workshops.

RSAMD Musicworks - some facts and figures:

  • 800+ children receive instrumental, musicianship and groupwork/orchestral tuition on a weekly, long term basis across a multitude of disciplines and traditions, in groups and individually
  • 2,000 receive our shorter term and workshop programmes per year
  • 45 public concerts per year
