About Us

In North Glasgow a high proportion of families live on low incomes. Over the past 20 years large parts of the area have been subject to demolition and partial reconstruction, with associated disruption to family and community life.

Against this background, CHIP enables children and families to:

  • Think about what is going on in their communities
  • Speak out about it
  • Achieve some positive change as a result.
  • Feel stronger and more optimistic through influencing the circumstances and decisions that effect them

The Arts are frequently used to achieve these objectives.
Examples include:

  • Children planting  wildflower meadows at Hamiltonhill, By shot Brae and Possil meadow.
  • Families improving Hamiltonhill nursery garden by creating and applying ceramic tiles to the walls
  • Supporting parents and staff to create a garden in an unused space at St Roch’s nursery school in Royston.
  • Developing partnerships to create a sustainable community growing and meeting space at Possilpoint Community Centre.
  • Using visual and performing arts with local primary school children to explore community issues that are important to them.
